    pictures

    of my first

     spring rose pruning

second time attempting a rose. first one i picked by colour. this time i picked by smell. it was a toss-up between one that read 'heavy rose fragrance' and 'very fragrant'. they were that. both really strong. i picked the second one. rich lavender floribunda (angelface). it's pretty and all, but when i saw the digital camera pics, i was like. cooooooool at the aquatic gardens on saturday, sean picked up a rattail hanging cactus, also!

made several more tiled backgrounds from one of the rose pictures just putting the dark one and light one up today. it's just a floating rose i sorta swiped away the stem. the pictures today are bigger and better quality today cause i got them straight from the camera instead of the rigged bit!!! (they're actually all bigger i adjusted the ht and wd for this entry, just right click to choose to save or set as background on desktop) the dark background is my favorite

    CHAPTER VII A Mad Tea-Party

    japanese green tea online.com

holymountain, chaji, foodtv, proper, Napkin Etiquette
    Tea Etiquette, ehow (altf/tea)

tea trail, ideas with 2 recipes*. little sandwiches, cookies(chocolate delights*), (chocolate chip) scones, cake (jewel cakes*). more recipes at afternoonteaparty. alter quiche lorraine and make in tiny sizes. the tomatoe tea sandwiches don't even sound so bad. don't think i'll make crumpets.

going to the aquatic gardens makes me want one
then i think about the bugs.

found a place to get my acrylic dome made for that terrarium i been dying to make so sean can have a lizard. or skink. or gecko...

    honey on a bisquit. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

things to put on your tomb.

  • jax: nah, it's ok, i was thinking about putting those other empty trays (or filled) w/out saran closer to the element. you never told me whether you tried it or not in all these 10 or so years. i remember watching the infomercial when you got it. that was like the first fullfledged infomercial, too, i think. those were crazy days.

i was reminesing (sp?) about the music prior to say '96. they just don't make some of the great poppy summer tunes anymore. one of the last great summer songs was like will smith ("in the summer time").'hiphiphooray' , 'today was a good day', ok, i take it back, i really liked lens' song a while back (steal my sunshine), no diggity was great, gin and juice, what's my name. anything by stp/blindmelon/lennykravitz

there was just something a little different in the 80's and first part of the 90's in music. just can't put my finger on it. we'll never have another terrance trent d'arby...

and there was a little something different about the 70's and early 80's. that was such a fun time. great funny shows on tv. and sorry but michael jackson back then...great. "i wanna rock with you..." and stevie wonder and earth wind and fire. terrariums. 3/4 length baseball shirts. mtv. magical cartoons. leg warmers. roller skating. and bringing up the rear...u2, madonna, ub40, duranduran.

ok, back to reality. went to the store and got breffast and lunch/dinner fixins for the weekend (club sandwiches and eggacheese bisquits). did i say i made bread puddin with all that freezer bread? yeah, i added the dried strawberries instead of raisins, but you can barely tell they're there. i also went for the bike ride (3 laps), cut the grass, trimmed my hair, and took one of the best showers.

SO, spidey.......survivor, you need to give us a play-by-play. you didn't call back last night, we missed survivor, guessing it was on wednesday but didn't know

and what do you want to do about lunch...do we go out or do we go seperate ways. and what order do you want to do the activities (what sean said?), are we all going in one vehicle?

  • not to be pessimistic...just realistic...looks like it is going to be wet this weekend. that may mean walking trails are going to be muddy. so far suggestions on what to do this weekend...please add to comments for additional suggestions. a lot of things don't open til 10 am on saturday and some things aren't open on sunday. below listed in no particular order: (and you know i hate spending money, but i am trying to bend alittle by listing other activities)

    • we could kill about an hour and a half by visiting the aquatic garden shop and getting lunch. (we can't wait to try that resturant from last weekend again...to get that coffee freezie) (free)
    • there is also the louisiana arboretum (not the state louisiana arboretum)...it would be mainly just for excersise. that trail doesn't get too muddy. and we could pick up lunch somewhere, maybe eat at lakefront or citypark or back in your town. (it is down the street from city park)(free)
    • musee conti wax museum ($6.75 per person)
    • magazine street, 6 miles of shops and resturants. we could park, walk and eat. (free)
    • paddlewheeler creole queen (/cajun queen)(coupons) ($12 per person-harbour cruise 1 hour 11:30am, 1:00pm, 2:30pm, 4:00pm departures)(2 hrs 30 min.-battlefield cruise $17, $23 w/ lunch per person 10:30am & 2pm departures)
    • jazz cruise on the steamboat natchez: $18 w/out lunch, $24.50 w/ lunch (11:30am, 2:30 pm departures, it's a 2 hour tour) (coupons)
    • new orleans botanical gardens (in city park)($5 per person)
    • new orleans museum of art (i am grasping at any activities now, can you tell?)(i still haven't seen too much of the upper two floors) $6 per person)
    • we could attempt renting canoes. if it's not too buggy (with it being so wet, i wonder...)($25 a couple)
    • longvue house and gardens (6-8 acres of gardens to look at) ($10 per person)

also, going thru a louisiana tour book, lots of houses and stuff to look at...including edgar degas' home (the painter)($10pp). and did you also know that the city i live in (not new orleans) is one of louisiana's largest national historic districts? (which is why i bitch at neighbors driving on my yard)

(sp: aside from that we must get that fern to you. and we need to figure out if we need to use that saw on anything else (doubtfull) before you get it back. and side note...i think you'd said something about going camping for two days in a row. i don't feel right leaving the house unattended for more than a day-day and a half, that is why if we do any short camp trips, we'll only stay out for one night. sean does have that friday off...we could plan to go out there and y'all could just stay the extra day without us. our big trip this year should be only one this time, that means only one time i have to board the cats/let people watch them). yes i am babbling now...)

  • all this morning a little bulldozier was tearing up the sidewalk in and out of the yard across the street. one cat thought it was cool. one cat ran to the opposite end of the house. also hit the store, got some shorts for the summer. and some hanging plastics for thinning out the fern, threw some more of the underthehouse fern in one. grabbed a pic of the azalea/garden in the back and the dinosaur garden. waiting for it to rain. love rain.

and attempted a dried strawberry background (dark). haven't looked to see if it's any good. haven't made a background in forever.  OH, and i finally have my tongue back!!! guess that's why i was thinking special food tonight instead of leftover chili

  • yeah, so i had some fern (some kind of rosemary lace something or another) growing under the house, i'd tried to spread it around the yard more, but as with most other plants in the past..i kill them. this bathroom makes for bad pics...no matter how much i adjust

this time seems to be different. found good instructions, not handling the plants too much, and most of all, not allowing my male cat to eat them.

and the tree across the street. well, you know i have NOSEY neighbors, right? so i didn't want to look like one of them...the before picture i took of that monster of a tree across the street. i took it through the screen door on the porch. can you say DUH...

    before              after

borrowing a food dehydrator for a while. dried some tart strawberries yesterday. gunna do some beef jerky, apples, grapes. really want to try and make fruit roll ups. wondering if the saran would melt though. this dehydrator is one that was made by ronco about 10 years ago. guessing it is similar to the difference between old and new glue guns. the old runs hot. too hot.

the new, have dials, i bet.

    use what you got.

i used to save lint and broken crayons.

i still save fortunes from fortune c00kies (any and all).

i love giving love. everyone wants it.allmushylike. okimnotthatgenerousbutiaminmyownway

    spidey, for you ->

yeah, a bucket of them (crayons)... divided them up by colour shades in egg crates lined with foil. i felt that it was SO darn hot in my car if i'd sit them in there during the summer, they'd melt. didn't like crayons rolling around in car. put them in dryer closet. didn't really melt and gathered dust. finally had to give up cause i knew i wouldn't want to clean them.

  • picked up a fern (for the upstairs bathroom) and a bunch of other stock up items today.

glad i got out when i did!

they removed a tree from the lot across the street.

not to fear, i did get pictures. when the cam battery finishes charging up, i'll update. got a short video of the bottom part of the tree being sawed and then pulled down.

the plants we put in the front look so small and puny.

i HOPE they grow much bigger.

still wondering if, yes...i think they shoulda been planted further away from the house.

guess i can just trim it back in the rear. the rest that were planted were bulbs. the bulbs sat in a bag for a week and a half. when we opened them, one bag had pieces of bulbs that were slimy.  i rinsed those off and planted in back yard. ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

was given a water rain jug on sunday, also!  (thx hunni)

  • learned how to install a pergo floor on saturday!

...and spidey, went to the store and saw this scream for me to get it for you. i think they are like cookie bisquits...w/ strawberry cream flavoring  on tips.

food was all good this weekend gotta check out that coffee freeze again!

    updates on the kitty...WELL...

this was the kitty on friday afternoon. i had gone out there several times to pet it and get pictures for a lost poster.

saturday, put out food, saw it before we left to go help with the floor. came back hoome in the evening. she hadn't finished her food. so i have to assume (i still haven't seen her for a whole day) that the owner finally scooped her up or someone else got her. but either way we'll all hope it's good!   kitty all gone.

sunday...got up really early again. planted front garden and an azalea in the back. pictures whenever everything comes up. then the bathroom upstairs sink was fixed...THEN the chair rail was put up there to finish it off! picture when it's finished with painT

after that we went to a store and picked up sake and some cups. never tried it before! another friend came over and we all had some!

    good weekend!

  • farscape. last show. BLEW THEM UP?!?  'to be continued', thank everyone for making it. the end? to be continued?

  • "are you reeeeady?, yes i'm reeeeady" -the monkey time by curtis mayfield?

not in the mood to actually go and track it down to see if that is the right song for the lyric that was running through my head today. have NO idea where it came from to pop in my head. while i was making scones.

yes, finally made the scones. i am a nut sometimes because i let things eat me up. one of the biggest things that eat me up are when i see a recipe i want to make. i'll get in the mood for stuff at inappropriate times...such as when there are already food items, similar, around. scones and macaroons. i been looking for my macaroon recipe for a year or so now (it's tried true and easy). little sailor shot a macaroon recipe across the xanga band...but i'll have to wait about month before i can have room in the house for more junk food. made the scone with the dried cherries and some golden raisins (didn't have enough cherries). just couldn't resist.
