  • not to be pessimistic...just realistic...looks like it is going to be wet this weekend. that may mean walking trails are going to be muddy. so far suggestions on what to do this weekend...please add to comments for additional suggestions. a lot of things don't open til 10 am on saturday and some things aren't open on sunday. below listed in no particular order: (and you know i hate spending money, but i am trying to bend alittle by listing other activities)

    • we could kill about an hour and a half by visiting the aquatic garden shop and getting lunch. (we can't wait to try that resturant from last weekend again...to get that coffee freezie) (free)
    • there is also the louisiana arboretum (not the state louisiana arboretum)...it would be mainly just for excersise. that trail doesn't get too muddy. and we could pick up lunch somewhere, maybe eat at lakefront or citypark or back in your town. (it is down the street from city park)(free)
    • musee conti wax museum ($6.75 per person)
    • magazine street, 6 miles of shops and resturants. we could park, walk and eat. (free)
    • paddlewheeler creole queen (/cajun queen)(coupons) ($12 per person-harbour cruise 1 hour 11:30am, 1:00pm, 2:30pm, 4:00pm departures)(2 hrs 30 min.-battlefield cruise $17, $23 w/ lunch per person 10:30am & 2pm departures)
    • jazz cruise on the steamboat natchez: $18 w/out lunch, $24.50 w/ lunch (11:30am, 2:30 pm departures, it's a 2 hour tour) (coupons)
    • new orleans botanical gardens (in city park)($5 per person)
    • new orleans museum of art (i am grasping at any activities now, can you tell?)(i still haven't seen too much of the upper two floors) $6 per person)
    • we could attempt renting canoes. if it's not too buggy (with it being so wet, i wonder...)($25 a couple)
    • longvue house and gardens (6-8 acres of gardens to look at) ($10 per person)

also, going thru a louisiana tour book, lots of houses and stuff to look at...including edgar degas' home (the painter)($10pp). and did you also know that the city i live in (not new orleans) is one of louisiana's largest national historic districts? (which is why i bitch at neighbors driving on my yard)

(sp: aside from that we must get that fern to you. and we need to figure out if we need to use that saw on anything else (doubtfull) before you get it back. and side note...i think you'd said something about going camping for two days in a row. i don't feel right leaving the house unattended for more than a day-day and a half, that is why if we do any short camp trips, we'll only stay out for one night. sean does have that friday off...we could plan to go out there and y'all could just stay the extra day without us. our big trip this year should be only one this time, that means only one time i have to board the cats/let people watch them). yes i am babbling now...)

  • Sounds like all sorts of fun things to do... it kills me when someone says, "There's nothing to do around here" (where "here" is)... really, there are always so many cool things to do (and so many of them are free!), as long as you're looking for them.

  • I vote for arboretum, then aquatic garden shop, then lunch and coffee freezie goodness at Java Joe's

  • the arboretum and the coffee freezie sound really good! but if you want to pay, the rest sounds pretty good too! now I'm all indecisive.. haha.

  • Sean's suggestion sounds good.  Where is that louisiana arboretum?  Bri wants to do some stuff in the yard if it is not too rainy in the p.m.  (he wants to pressure wash weeds out and then grout the backyard on Sunday )  And we would have to start early to be able to get lunch on time.  So that would work out good.  Java Freeze is my new addiction.  They are sooo yummy.

  • Oh, and about camping, I thought that weekend would be a conflict b/c of seeing the parents.  And yeah I know what you mean about not leaving the babies and one night would be enough to appease me anyway.

  • One more thing, you musta been reading my mind b/c I was thinking about making a list of stuff to do this morning.

  • it's more about my house getting robbed than the cats...

  • oh, and i said no to the idea of spending friday and saturday out there and then right after getting back on sunday, me and sean would have to spend the rest of the day with his family. i like having a day alone with sean on the weekend. we like being with fritends and family, but it doesn't seem like a day off sometimes unless it is just me and sean doing stuff in the neighborhood. when we are with people, we have to be sociable and we have to stay with the people. when it is just me and sean we aren't dependant on the situation as much.

  • and everything, this weeikend and the camp weedkend also all hinges on weather.

depending on  what station i looked at. some say it will be rainy on sat. others say rain on sunday. some say partly sunny/cloudy on sat. some say scattered showers.....etc

so, spidey, you are a good weather girl, i say you are in charge of telling us what will happen with the weather.

  • and spidey, not to screw up y'alls ideal plans..... but if we aren't gunna get together til whenever aquatic gardens opens (probably not til 9 or 10 am)(if that is part of what we decide to do). y'all may want (if it is cool enough, supposed to be a cold front coming thru) to start on garden work in the morning and grab a shower before we take off for the 'adventure'.

but either way, i do know y'all got stuffyou have to do...so i know we will all be able to leave for home after lunch (by 1pm, i am sure)

i have no idea what we'll do before we hook up with y'all. still have front and back doors to start sanding and painting, that sounds like what we may work on. other than that we have to:

    paint ceilings eventually

    front and rear roofs

prep and paint bedroom (prep is a possible thing we might do this weekend)

new counter top and kitchen sink

  • but then again, you are probably thinking we will need a lot more time in the morning for all that, and i am sure you're probably right, there, too! you know i underestimate stuff sometimes, especially activities

  • oh, and i'm not pushing doing anything this weekend, it just sounded like you wanted to do something, give our guys a break and all...actually this was the weekend i kinda had pegged as the last cool weekend to go camping.

but the rain...and y'all just bought those plants, so i know you have to do that yard work. brian has been wanting to do it ssince last year.

  • (he wanted to do the grout since last year or whenever)

  • LOL, yeah, well the weather man was saying that if it rains it should be early.  So, hopefully we can make it happen.  Oh, And you never answered by question, Where is that louisiana arboretum?
