  • a canoe. looks like going out last weekend has brought us to realise, we would like to canoe as a new activity. gunna look for a 2-person one this weekend. i still want to walk and ride bikes though, cause i hate sitting still. but there was something cool/primitive about oaring thru black water, not getting wet, and it felt good to use plain old person-power. once i really get used to manuvering, i bet it'd be neat to get some close-up pictures of the gators. can't eat much seafood, but sure would like to fish off the canoe atleast once.

comment i made on wickedkittys site about canoe: i think i flipped a canoe over when i was very young, so i always think in the back of my head (about many things) "even though it all seems simple enough, with my luck, the worst will happen". and it usually does. the big thing for me was 'don't move too much'. i attempted to reach for something at one point in time and my S.O., after feeling the boat rock TOO much, was like " NO, you stay there, i'll throw it to you, we no want to tip over the boat!!!" it just freaked me out to know there were alligators sleeping right under the boat. the canoe lady told us the water was only about 3 feet deep, in the same breathe, she's like " the alligators are sleeping at the bottom, them won't bother you". if i fall in and step on them, i am sure they will have a problem with me!!! but yeah, not being able to see thru the black water is scary, but now that i think about it....not sure if i would really want to see EVERYTHING i was paddling over. gosh, i just don't know. i'll be thinking about it all day!

speaking of seafood. thanks, spidey for inviting me to the crawfish boil. i feel loved, but yes, you are right, the smell may bloat me up and give me hives. the invitation is much appreciated though, it's similar to being involved (to atleast know what is going on). but, yeah, sean and i had planned to hopefully buy a canoe on saturday...so we may end up being tied up all weekend with that, trying to get a luggage rack for the green jeep, or otherwise figuring out how to transport it. and HOPEfully, we'd like to go canoing sat. and sunday...inbetween any house chores we may have. sean is soooooo hyped, me too.

and here is a pic of spidey with the babe. thought it was cute cause he was crying and she looked up and, well, it was just funny...had to be there i guess. and the pic to the right is him, a week old, with a friend of the parents, a cable guy.

my kitchen is grey right now. purple tiles on the lower half of the wall, and some thin black tile trim inbetween. i decided a long time ago to brighten and warm it up in there it needed yellow. not everyone agreed. so i took it into photoshop and used variations to get it yellow. other than that we woulda done it an ethereal blue colour, but that would have been too close to grey. i love grey, but not in the kitchen. i feel like the yellow goes with the origin of the house. (30's/40's) i mean look at it....that yellow kicks ass with the black and purple!!! i took many painting and art classes in school, so i know what will make things pop.....but for some reason my decisiions seem extreme or extremely ugly to people....but they work. i may not be good with emphasising a style in the house, so it sometimes looks like a swap meet, but colour, for reaching a certain feeling, i am good at. with colour alone i have been trying to get my house to resemble what it used to look like when it was built in 1937 (or 1932, it's been a few months since i looked at what date it was born). it looks like purple was upstairs, but i believe that was an addition upstairs, from the 80's, so i think we may put that ethereal blue up there. everytime i look at the swimming pool green, in most of the rest of the downstairs...i know it is shocking for some, but i totally feel back in the 40's with it. it may be a little sterile looking, but it isn't tacky.

  • such a lovely baby!

canoeing can be fun, although I keep getting scared that I will fall over one day. I'm weird like that. heh!

  • =]

  • Well, you will be missed on Sunday.    But buying a canoe, that's great!  Maybe one day we'll rent one and go along with yall.  For a minute I thought Derek was Sean, they have the same kind of hat.  Parmesan chicken is good, you're welcome Sean.

  • Yeah, I think the yellow will look good with the little swirlies in the tile, it'll all tie in.  Do you have baseboards in there?  Maybe you could do some pale yellow on those or around the doors.

  • I forgot to ask him about the chili cookoff, I wrote a note, will do at lunch today.

  • ok, doke, no biggy. i am tempted, after finding out whether you and b want to go, just getting the 6 or 4 tickets and being done with it. if anyone else decides to go, they can just get tickets at the door, or mail off for them. we'll have to bring some extra drinks in an icechest if we go, though, the drinks may be something like $2 a can or something, i can't remember.

  • about the baby thing you said.. yes, babies are cute as long as they are not mine. I don't plan on having a baby for a loooooooong time for various reasons. But yeah, babies are cute as long as they are quiet and cuddly. (and that sounds so cruel hehe)

  • You allergic to seafood too?  My time in NOLA was a sheer hell because we could never find a safe place to go out to eat.

  • I love to be out in a canoe.  I've dumped 'em a few times, but there's not too many things around here that will drown me for supper.  Just learn to feather your paddle, and get out there and go!  Fishing is kinda' tricky, especially when you try to set that hook on a big one, or if you're reaching to bring it in the boat.

Thanks for the explanation of the coinstar!
