  • wanted to wish everyone a great halloween. i will be convincing children to pop the rabies gum in thier mouth as soon as i give it to them. the look of horror/joy on thier faces is a wonderful thing. here's spooky boy: BOO. just wanna eat that nose.

yeah...that is part of the humour. talking about death as a person is like tacking 'in bed' to a fortune from a fortune cookie. my real name has similar attachments. it is in the title of some movies. it is a noun and a verb.  it is also in a popular phrase that many people use (which i am not too keen on since i've heard it all my life). it's like "a haa..."deadpanface

knocking at deaths door. in the sweet arms of death. 'death would kill me.' death recipe. death log. when i comment on strangers xangas...i say something like just 'passing     by'.  i don't think about what i say, but then someone will point it out to me and laugh.

  • it's not until i go through the pictures that i remember all that has gone on.

had an hour or so long adventure with a lizard in the house. went to make liquid lunch. as leaving counter for fridge to get milk, saw the lizard. tried to get him to bring him outside. he ran. went into the cabinet. i opened the cabinet and tried to get him in a container. he jumped on me not in the container. then he jumps off and scurries across the kitchen to the other counter. crash saw him. crash pounces. in horror, i yell "NO!" grab the cat, the lizard wedges himself down by the baseboard. i get a toothpick. again, he avoids the container and runs right into the cat. the cat brings him up 3 rooms to the front of the house. i realise he took off with the lizard in his mouth, so i go chase him. he goes to go behind the sofa. i grab his tail. he drops the lizard. then he starts trying to find it again. i look behind the sofa, see the tail squirming around by itself. think "yae, the lizard got away". the cat is struggling to get out from behind the couch. when he finally jumps over the back to the front, i see his mouth is funny looking. he has the lizard. i'm feeling really bad for the lizard by this time. i shout 'no' again and grab the cat (he spits out lizard) i toss cat in bathroom to tend to lizard. finally get lizard in container. it's not looking good. at one time liz ended up on back and didn't make effort to right himself. i plop him outside (above picture). did not see him later. i think he is ok.

also made another 'whatevayagot' soup. ham bone (from last year) and 8 cups water to make the base. hatch pepper(2 tsp), bellpeppers(1/4 cup), squash(1/4 cup), peas(1/2 cup), carrots(1/4 cup), crushed tomatoes(2 cups), seasoned lo mein noodles(about 2 cups), eggplant(one itty bitty), garlic(tbsp), onion(tbsp) and left over baked beans(1/4 cup). almost all from freezer. took 2 cups of the liquid from soup for broth to throw in freezer. believe it's been a year i been trying to empty out the freezer?! soon!

got rid of banana pops finally, made smoothies this past weekend, had left over, made smoothie pop. sloppy joe yesterday. ooops, have no idea what for today. chili.....

  • guh
    mind is pretty blank lately.

    almost forgot the xanga password...

picnic at a park (one of the same old-same old).

    if i were a tree...

worked at the parents house. brought the watercolours one day and did a pic there one of those days.
hunnimon took the reins one weekend and made me a cake (i helped by mixing all the dry ingredients together a week previous)...it was really yummy. from Fannie farmer, it would be neat to bottle up the dry ingredients and make a cake-mix-in-a-bottle-deal.
chocolate buttermilk cake: 1 2/3 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa (i added a teaspoon or so more), 1 tsp baking soda, 1/2 tsp salt, 1 cup buttermilk, sour milk (or just use one cup milk and add 1 tablsp white vinegar-sat for 5 minutes),1/2 cup vegetable oil, 2 tsp vanilla. 350- 9X13- about 35 minutes. the icing...nock your socks off...broiled icing:
while cake is still warm and in pan...spread this mixture over it 3 tbsp melted butter (+1 tsp), 3 tbsp dark brown sugar(+1 tsp), 2 tbsp cream (i used half and half+ 1/2 tsp), 1/2 cup shredded coconut (+1/4 cup). then throw the whole cake under the broiler until topping is bubbly and turning golden. (i made a rectangle cake instead of  2-layer 8 inch, so more topping needed-notice parenthesis)
a wish is coming true as writing. i will finally know a tattoo artist. my mom. scary. free. so eventually i'll get my tats coloured. she may even make a house call.

     my headless cat ... cute.

October 16, 2003

  • woke up to blue footsteps, before 6 this morning. hard to tell from pictures. little dark blue prints. in the gait of the evil one. just a fool for water. he'd been in the watercolors right after we went to bed. i close the little box. he obviously paw-slid the box off sofa so it'd pop open. before i learned better, i'd leave the little water wells out. found one missing this week. he'd knocked it over and it ended up under the loveseat. found that out only because i heard him playing slide with it. kitties got fresh new bowls yesterday. biglots. i grabbed some flea and tick shampoo, no water needed (rub on, wipe off). eventually i'll run out of all these kitty cleaning products...

October 15, 2003

  • went to petsmart this weekend...picked up kitty cleaning towels. no shampoo, no bath, no claws, no water. whew! went ahead and picked up a couple other toys. some balls with bells in them since the weak ones we had before would mysteriously get stepped on and then crash would take the tiny bell out, wake us in the middle of the night, and want to play fetch-the-jingly. they got a new storm door, to look through, this weekend also! not much on a picture, the door is one piece glass with a white frame around it.
you know i had to go see kill bill. QT does the things i see in my head. very cool. i giggled quite a bit during that one fight scene. was waiting to see Kareem Abdul-Jabbar  (check out game of death , and others) walk into a scene...
if you enjoy kung fu movies from he 70's...go see this. groovy intro. it's not AS intense, but kinda gives ya that same vibe. tracksuits. lol.

no work at the inlaws his past weekend, but , looks like they will be ready for us next weekend. joy.
everytime we get one project done 'round here, another one pops up. discovered we can't fully prep the bedroom for the last paint job til we get a completely new set of windows for one side of the room. wood rotted out. did get the last of the new window shades up, though.

the veins in the ground meat...starting to get to me. maybe just a passing mood. the burgers were good.

mr lizard was down inbetween the storm door and house door...think he forgot how he got in. didn't give me any problems except for being sluggish when i encouraged him out of the threshold. then i spent the evening trying to draw lizards. lots of lizards.

  • yes, we had a discussion about how carp kept as pets are called koi.

seems like we have that same conversation every few years.

they are beautiful...but just like other animals kept in small environments, i'd like to have stolen them and put them in the lake.

October 7, 2003

  • mil bd this week. picked up some flowers and made her a minature garden. mr. mon decided the arrangement.

this weekend was a blur. we got lots of things accomplished ... that makes it pretty darn near perfect. made a meatloaf. well, it was a loaf and it had some meat in it. it also had carrots, cheese, bbq sauce, rice, gravy, egg...and a seasoned bisquick topping as he said "just for good measure." it was interesting. i could skip the bisquit top next time.

will be doing some more work at the parents' this upcoming weekend. hopefully do things we couldn't get to last weekend, at our house.

have so much written down this week...just not on the computer... yet

oh! went out to eat. had gift certificate for a resturant across the river. the fish and waterfall were the best. there was a short palm, too. picture of it's heart, over there.

i had to do the fish pictures a little bigger. they were too cute.

i musta looked like the food person. then they got close enough and realized i wasn't. the rest of them looked like they were enjoying swimming in circles. they were as long, if not longer, than my forearm.

October 3, 2003

  • pasta bake: can of (green) enchilada sauce (14-16 oz), 1/2 cup rotell tomatoes and hot peppers, 1/4 cup baby brussel sprouts(4), 1/4 cup (one small) bell pepper, 1/2 cup (or so) diced turkey spam, cup of pasta, 1/2 cup cheese. mix together. grease pan. dump. cook 375 about 35-40 minutes. until pasta is soft. push down any drying out pasta and add 1/2 cup more cheese to top. cook another 5 minutes or so. let pasta stand about 5 minutes.

upsidepears: took those two cut up, freezer pears that filled the whip cream bowl, squeezed and drained liquid away. add 1/4 cup oil or melted butter (i used 1/3 and it leaked out, causing smoke to billow from oven), and 1/3 cup sugar (brown, unrefined, white). stir well. grease muffin pan. distribute pear mixture to the 12 cups. in another bowl, mix up: 2 1/4 cup bisquick, 2/3 cup milk, 2 TBSP sugar. spoon this mixture on top of pears. bake @ 425 until they look like yummy bisquits (11 minutes). place cookie sheet on top of muffin pan. flip. leave pan on a couple minutes. pick pan up slowly while letting bisquit muffins fall to cookie sheet. warm and sticky. use a pineapple and cherry instead of pears and you have an upside down pineapple muffin...like at mckenzies.

while eating halloween candy (i picked up piss you off miniature tootsie pops and foaming mouth gum)...i noticed my tootsie pop didn't have the tootsie inside. i love the idea of foaming mouth gum. i wonder if any children will be rushed to the emergency room for rabies.
went to put dinner away this weekend and we ended up cleaning the fridge!!!

monday i picked up another cactus. this one miniature, a mouse tail, to go with the rattail

weather has been great for airing out the house from the summer.

and sp...go check your page, i got your message.

October 2, 2003

  • up to a lot, but just normal fall stuff...so, really, not much.

i think i over-filled my jeep tires last week. a tire hissed as i pulled in the driveway this morning after a (old appliance) donation trip.

got that yard trimmed for the weekend.

also tossed out all the old beer-making bottles and rest o the rubbish this trash day.

my sleep schedule. oh woe. i have not been able to get up til 8am. i like getting up at say 6 am or so. NOT because i am a morning person, that would suggest i am chip, talkative and coherent before 10 am...hahaha   it just seems between 6am-8am time goes especially slow. get much started and finished.

the cats have noticed...they don't get fed as early if i stay in bed. speaking of which, the boy has a seat (kitty condo) at the dining table, just like a kid....plays pretend. he is drinking water out of a cap. silliness.

so this morning, they must be feeling the weather. my neck has a crook in it cause they decided to 'nuggle up to mom. to have room, in my sleep, i must have tried to scoot away from thier fur up my nose and cause they lay all funny on me. so i end up smashed against the man, who looked like he was on the edge of the bed trying to get his own (space) when i woke up at 5am... i see why i was having a claustrophobic dream about going to a tattoo artist which was just about sitting on top of me (like the old dentists do to pull a back tooth) to remove a piece of something from a wrist tattoo which i don't have.

glad i made that fuzzy red hat.

oh dinner. m mmm mmm. (adapted from impossible hamburger pie recipe from bisquick) browned half lb turkey sausage with some rotell crushed tomatoe and pepper, belle pepper, onion and garlic/salt/pepper. put it in a foil-lined pan, threw 1/2 cup cheese on it. made the mix of 1/4 cup bisq., 1/2 cup soy milk and 1 egg, poured that over all. baked about 27 minutes at 400.

last night i did the bisquick for baked chicken but added ginger and hatch hot pepper...had that with garlic mashed taters and baby brussel sprouts.

tonight may be a pasta bake...bes' start takin' stuff out the freezer!

  • the bug bomb
woke up monday to a message on the shower room mirror. "i love you and ladybugs do, too!" look up and there is a real ladybug on the wall. so then i start thinking. it's still in one spot. besides hybernating in cold weather, do ladybugs sleep? then i think, is it alive? then i remember watching a show about how certain wasps will inject thier egg into a ladybug. the larva eats the ladybug from the inside and then hatches. i consider that a bug bomb. all this week the lady bug has moved from wall to wall in there. caught and freed him yesterday.

found a crate of stuff from '91-'97
time magazine when it was the cover of mars. old music tapes...can you believe i taped over my sex pistols? me neither. the red hot chili peppers tape from '91 (blood sugar sex magik?) is not taped over! found some colouring pages and several copies of an activity book from when i did the school thing. found some funny recording from the radio when page toured in '89...about a bunch of satan people gathering at his newly purchased alister crowly mansion (in lochness, the dj said), and about how he contorted his abdomen and had to reschedule tour dates, and also a bit of plant talking about how he "rejects stairway for the hell of it; how can you talk about one song so many times?!"

cookies/cupcakes warning: low sugar content compared to my norm
1 1/2- 2 cups flour (start with 1 1/2, if it looks goopy in the end, add some more), 1 cup sugar, 3/4 cup cocoa, 1/4 tsp salt, 3/4 tsp baking soda, 2 eggs, tsp vanilla, 3/4 cup oil, 1- 1 1/2 cups candy chips (white choc, semi, dark, peanut butter, butterscotch...your choice). i forgot to puts nuts, they'd have been good, 1/2 cup-1 cup. teaspoonful on ungreased pan or half muffin cup, 7-10 minutes @ 350.

i forgot what the seasonings in jambalaya were. didn't feel like looking, only to realize i'd be missing something. so i just put in garlic, onion, tomatoe, meats, rice, broth.

used to just have one kind of fern under the house, another has mysteriously popped up after this many years.

    RIP robert palmer
