Yup. Boarded the animales. Set off on a road trip.
First I have to throw a link out there so you won't feel the need to visit The Thing. I've been feeling the need to find out what it was but just didn't want to pay the buck. So here you go, found a slide show for ya.
Stopped in AZ and stayed at picacho peak park. The saguaros were sahwaring. Some mice came out to play...around me...they ran around and around, fighting with each other. Looked like they were trying to get the attention of a female that was poking her nose out from a hole near by.
We got back in the car after a night there. Nice story actually, wish I could have recorded the sad, loud drunk that was the last straw in even attempting to get any sleep.
We were planning on getting up at 3am, after having gone to bed at like 7pm...when the sun went down. I got up about 1am, hunni rolled out the tent about 3. We had a quick oatmeal breakfast, coffee for the road, packed up tent, stopped at the bathroom to brush teeth and headed to California.
Really you should have heard the dude. First he was all like happy...
"I came to arizona, man, and i found U, man. You're the only one who can help me, MAN." Then he would repeat the chorus of a song...turn the page. Once he got to the part "playin star again" he would explain to his chick (that he kept calling 'man') that some people thought it was "being a star again", but he explained it was "playing the star again..."
An hour later it had gone down hill. While we were eatting the oatmeal we heard a dog go by. Then the chick started whining "STOP IT! go away." Then dude noticed the dog was gone and yelled for it. I think the name was like Gohan or something. Then dude says a bunch of things including "The dog is gone and so am I, maybe you can get HIM to find your dog 'cause I'm outta here, man."
He was still yelling and singing as we were driving out of the park.
Always wanted to check out Joshua Tree since U2 put out that album. Hunni decided we were 'going to California' (as Led Zeppelin says). He brought me to this place (JTNP) that was like manymanymany City of Rocks all rolled into Big Bend NP.
Getting pet sick (I was) so we headed back home, but too late to pick them up, so we had a night alone. . . to watch movies that'd came in, new prison break, etc...
got the pets the next day, set up the tent so it could dry out (it snowed twice while we were at JTNP).
My little guy is sitting behind me on the chair...having a dream...kicking me while I type this.
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday we'll probably do some caching and such...
Saturday, back to work. GROAN.
