i love the weather lately, here. it's basically fall. the sky always looks beautiful on the bike rides...i need to air up my tires, i got a work out today. watching the veggies grow. i want to make something with them. mmmmmmm stuffed bell peppers. i don't like bell peppers, but i will eat the bits cooked in the stuffing. what on earth will i do with these hot peppers. they are too hot for stuffing (for our families). i could mail them to people. they might turn red by the time they get to the destination, but they would keep for about 1 1/2 weeks while being mailed, i bet.
i am so dreadfully happy it's just not funny. i don't always have a smile on my face, but i am always laughing on the inside. my neutral face looks angry/scowling. my cats see thru that.
i can't knit/ sew/ bead/ paint/ cook/ etc... properly, but refuse to stop trying. you ought to see the ski mask.

it may look funny, i may look like a terrorist...but the warmth on the bikerides and walking is all that counts. winter, bring it on.
i love my spouse. dying for our future. i love making tasty things.
ok, i think this was my recipe for the oatmeal crust pizza: disolve pckg yeast in 1/4 cup warm water, while that sits for 5min., put 2 cups flour (i used 1 cup homeground oats and 1 cup all purpose-you can use any combo you want), 1/4 tsp salt and 2 tsp other pizza crust flavoraides (parmesean, oregano, sage, garlic, onion, total of 2 tsp). add the yeast mixture and a TBSP oil to the flour combination, add 2/3 cup warm water. should be a stiff dough, cover, let sit 15 minutes (i prefer warm microwave or atop a bowl of very warm water). put dough on floured surface, knead 8 times (i guess i should post a picture of kneading one of these days). make one big pizza (16-18 inches diameter) or a couple (8-9 inches). bake the crust for 5 minutes @ 425. (having greased the pan)
pizza sauce: fresh tomatoes skinned from freezer (or a can of spaghetti sauce or canned tom. sauce/crushed tomatoes). add similar seasonings as were in the crust, about 3/4 tsp per cup of sauce (unless using already seasoned spaghetti sauce). i didn't put enough sauce on the pizza, put a tad more than you think you need (oatmeal sucks it up). sauce pizza. place veggie toppings, then cheese, then meat. bake 425 for another 7-15 minutes, until it looks right. i made an artichoke (marinated in jar, cut up soft, ditch nasty leaves) and (canned) chicken one. they said it was tasty, i was a bad cook and didn't try it. i like bacon.
also picked some pears off the relatives' tree in texas. cut up 2 (these are mongo pears) and froze (to soften without and acid). will post whatever dessert i make them into when i make it. was gunna make a pie. but then thought about the oats i still have and the bisquick and the waffles i could make pear syrup for or perhaps i could try and make my first jelly.
i know it's been nuts with all the posts. it's the weather. i get so much done and it's all such a pleasure.
tonight is alfredo sauce from an envelope...thinking about dessert. thinking about a brownie pizza. one day i will become alergic to sugar or chocolate...that day is not today.

I think we ought to use those jalapenos for salsa or something like that
You're better at all of those things than you let on, so just stop fibbin'!
That would be a horrible day. I feel for people who are allergic to that. I don't think the terrorists would look too good in maroon.
That pizza sounds good. You come up with the best recipies.
Peppers can also be pickled, don't forget that! Or you can slice them up and stick 'em in vinegar, and you've got jalepeno's for nachos any time you want them
Fresh peppers can be pulverized and mixed in with bread, cornbread, or dinner rolls to add a little kick to those as well
As for sewing etc, I can tie really good knots. The rest is extremely amateure other than a bit of crochetting (which I rarely think to do anyways)
Cooking, I LOVE cooking. Hate that silly clean up afterwards though
As for fall, omg fall puts me in a constant manic mood. Nothing beats it for the rest of the year, fall is my time to glow and be happy.
cheers
You have a beautiful and elegant site.
My grandmother used to make chocolate pears in red wine. She hollowed out the core, but left the stalk on. Poached them in red wine with spices and then stuffed the core with thick whipped cream (when they were cold). Put them in the fridge to harden up and then dipped them into melted chocolate. That set like a shell. They were amazing.
that sounds awesome, the red wine chocolate pears....definitely something i'd like to attempt!
Geemyknee! You did it to me again. Although, I come over expecting to get hungry. Hunni made me a cherry cheese cake. Mmm! Mmm! It's one of the top desserts on my list. Maybe I should go back and have a piece.
The balaclave is cool!
It's shortly after 5am and I'm now desiring redwine chocolate pears.
*drool*
Something you could use when winter camping, figured that you and the husband are up for the idea of coming to Illinois and see Starved Rock. There is a thing about the place that really captures the imagination. I am trying to get about ten to twelve people together and go over to Utica, Illinois. (laughing at the cat picture.) Someone should catch a picture of you sleeping while on the camp site because there could be a good dark horror tale that would come off of that.
I used to hate bell peppers. I mean, they would make me gag. Then one day someone brought over some leftover stuffed bell peppers and my Mom didn't want them, so I nuked one and gave it a try.
Weird. I love it. I have loved the taste of bell peppers from that day forward.
How does that work, anyway? It was like someone popped a toggle switch in my brain somewhere.
i love the hat...............i want one
i love your site so intresting
Thanks for the recipe. The warm jam drizzled on top sounds sooo good. I love crash in that pic up there.
how come all i can think about is redwine chocolate pears?
I fully intended on writing a really good response too... damn!
THANKS ALOT POESY! OK, YOU GO MAKE EM NOW THAT I AM THINKING OF IT.
oh! i love that hat too.. been wanting a poncho any good at something like that?
You know we planted the same type of peppers i believe.. and so far all they do is rot and grow mold after picking we dont' know what the hell to do w/ them.. that pickling idea sounded good.. i chuckled big time when what you wrote is exactly how i felt about those damn peppers. Planning a fall harvest.. whats the plan? I think i will go for asparagus, some type of healthy lettuce and broccoli.
no major fall harvest for me. this year was the first time i tried to make edibles. it worked. learned a lot of things. used lot of water. just planning on maybe putting the bell peppers and hot pepper plants into pots to try and save them for next year. the tomatoe plants are hanging in there. i should have replanted them again, about a foot deeper but haven't. will have to lengthen garden area if i do, do that. thinking stuffed pepper (with some rice, carrots and turkey spam); egg, soyrizo, and cheese stuffed; and probably gunna cut the rest into pieces for seasoning. probably making poppers out of the small bells and hot peppers. the hot peppers, yeah, we'll make our special tomatilla green salsa (though i still have a half pint in the freezer from last super batch). and there are tons of the hot peppers still growing. i only know one person locally who would enjoy all our extra peppers. i could make a hot jelly. like a hot relish. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. now i am more up in the air...
had grilled carrots and turkey spam on fresh french garlic pepper loaf tonight.
poncho....great idea. i started a knitted circle a while back, intending to make a throw in a cool shape...but it took so long, maybe i ought to turn that into a poncho. it's already big enough...maybe even too big, but i'd just have to find a way to take the center out...
I want a garden. I've wanted one for years and we never manage to get the work done to the yard. Then again, I live with a constant handyman, he's handy about starting, and handy about losing his spot and going off on a tangent. LOL I can't count the unfinished projects in my house right now with just my fingers.
Ponchos are cool! My kids have one my grandmother always loved.
Death, I might be assuming from just your username, but have you read Gaiman's "Wolves in the Walls"? I fell in love with "Coraline" so I think I'm going to scrape up the money to get this one as well. He's an awesome author
Oh...dustmite, it's not my fault about the pears! Blame Soap Opera for posting that delicious concoction of her grandmother's and Death for bringing home those pears!
poe sy, about gaiman. actually, that isn't why for the name i chose...but i have read the high cost of living (the 3 issue comic). my bud spidey found me this death book by some other people. that wolves in the walls sounds interesting. people have stopped by here and asked me about other things i have read having to do with all that (sandman and stuff), but i just haven't gotten around to the buying process.
