boiled peanuts. bite the star, suck the juice, slurp the nut.
haven't heard of them? don't like them? i ran into a person once who made them for a co-worker (he was trying to get her sweet on him), she didn't like them, so i asked if i could have them, that i would APPRECIATE them. i grew up eating boylt pnuts. out, a bit in the country, in florida, you'd see a big barrel, steam coming out and a sign scoop for $5. sometimes, heading back into the city, i'd make a request for them...mom would say back "ok, next one, we'll stop"...and it would always be the last one i saw. i'd dream about them til the next time we went that way.
never made them myself until now. started them before actually knowing how i was supposed to cook them. i'm thinking fresh, 10 minutes...try 45. well that's how most recipes read. here's one from an online newspaper article and here's one from the national peanut board. i made them a little salty, forgot i was using flavourful sea salt and hadn't looked at the recipe yet.

also made some chicken last week, using the wheatabix (smashed) as a coating. baked it, got some crispy coated chicken! was going for putting honey on it after baking. to get hunnied chicken... the honey smell was too strong, so after looking around i found a honeyed chicken recipe online. sean pointed out that nowhere did it read honey. that's why mine didn't work!!!
last night (chicken soaked in milk/vinegar mix always before i coat it now, thx spidey!) i put some wheat flour, brown sugar, powdered chick broth, curry mix and ginger to use as the coating. skin-fried it in a skillet, like pork chops. after it looked great on the outside, i threw it in the microwave to finish cooking a minute or two, i forget. used extra crumb mix and milk to make a sauce to put on top noodles. forgot to take a picture. the chick came out more like the honeyed chicken i was trying to make the other week.

this was baked spicey spam slices surrounded by green bell peppers and topped with almost spicey rice.

and this was that meat tenderloin i sliced, added to gravy and ate with mashed taters and broccoli.
we have zucchini! just noticed the zucchini is growing behind the flower (i think i read the males grow like that?).
we ordered the coutertop a week or so ago. they called last night to tell us the laminate design we picked was discontinued. went to the store and looked at more samples and chose a new one. they still had the old sample chip up there
i have a sample collection going. i figure i can make a mosaic table top with the samples, just need the adhesive! picked up this one metallic one...hello, instant car mirror (it is smooth enough to use as a mirror). need more samples.

gaw i'm starving now...
I think you would be good at taking pics of food for magazines or doing the arranging for commercials. Kinda like a food critic?
Man that sucks about the cabinet. So how long will it take to come in now? You think they should have been competent enough to know what is and isn't discontinued and to take down the discontinued pattern.
well.. I don't eat meat.. so... chicken..NO.
I'd die if I couldnt eat meat
Re your comment: does what make me light sensitive?? Shingles or hayfever?? The meds for Shingles are Valtrex, and you are supposed to stay out of sunlight (just like with anti-biotics)...the only other thing that makes me light sensitive is migraignes.
oh btw...A friend o mine in Georgia had told me about boiled peanuts before...it's just not something I want to try. You can smash em, grind em, or eat em straight out the shell...but boil em?? Not me
spidey-it is still coming in when it was scheduled to come in, but that won't have anything to do with this weekend anyways.
faithless, miraculously, you are not the only non-meateater to come to my page. i dunno how y'all find me.
lol@dap yes, the shingles. lololol...boiled peanuts, yes, i hear they are an aquired taste...such as the pickled pigs feet my mom used to eat......i could not eat pigs feet.
What is that link in your comment above? It made like 500 boxes pop up on my screen and they all said Action cancelled.
i can't believe some of the stuff they do not teach people in college. that link is not a link. the way it was written with the @, makes the browser think i've put up a linkable email address, which i haven't. your best bet before you click on ANYTHING is to hover your curser over it before clicking it, so that something worse doesn't happen to you if you go to a hackers webpage. a lot of deals will assume anything after an http: address will look linkable also. see: spidey@it.com and http://www.spideyhonie.com it just blows me away that they teach people how to use a computer, but they don't teach what it does and how it does it. you are not the first to ask me this question since '93. some people have hassled me several times about putting up bunk links and such.
